Get ready to empty out those wallets ladies, as H&M has again brought some killer runway trends to the wearable masses with an affordable and fashion-forward fall collection. Last week, H&M Studio (the new name for H&M’s seasonal limited-edition collections) introduced its autumn 2014 Paris Fashion Week pieces at their Bloor street location.
Now available across Canada, this collection is the perfect mix of feminine and masculine notes, complete with slip dresses and tailored suiting. As far as texture and fabrics go, it has all: silk crêpe, silk satin, cashmere knits and velvet. Not to mention tons of glitter, which came in the form of sequin detailing and stone embroidery – (you may have recently seen Solange rocking the sequin blazer below on the red carpet).
My splurge: I fell in love with this double breasted find (only $79.95), and it has already made itself a new staple among my fall wardrobe.
For those who know me, you’ll know that I am a sucker for great tailoring, unique silhouettes and men’s suiting. I feel like I’m on a perpetual mission to find the perfect oversize jacket, which I hope you can appreciate has structure, and is not just a jacket with lots of additional fabric. Let’s face it, long gone are the days where we have to rummage through our boyfriend of father’s closet. I’m very impressed that a “boyfriend” garment is finally made with a women’s physic in mind.
Fashion tip: The idea is to go big, but never frumpy.
So, just focusing on tailoring and fabrication for a moment, here are a few more pieces from the A/W14 Studio Collection you might want to get your hands on.
