Forget what you think you know about workwear and what’s acceptable.
There is a way to wear shorts to the office. I repeat, there is a way to wear shorts to the office.
In general, the red tape around office attire and what is restricted have begun to loosen, so I say take advantage – but please wear your shorts responsibly. Length does matter ladies – stay around the mid-thigh, or at minimum a full palm below your tush.
The trick is to stay professional while showing off that extra skin. A few additional things to keep in mind: the silhouette (shorts should skim the body, be structured or flowy – but never tight); the blazer length should not be longer than your shorts and if wearing a blouse, tuck it in; and lastly, find the appropriate shoe. Note: NEVER are flip flops at the office ever an acceptable footwear of choice!
For those naysayers who say shorts are not office-appropriate, here’s what I say to that – here are 3 looks to prove you wrong that can easily transition from work to after hours patio!

Babaton Vaughn Shorts, Aritzia $85

Collection Pleated Leather Skort, J. Crew $450

Printed Shorts, ZARA $49
